Our farm runs a Hereford bull a traditional heritage breed of bull and therefore all our beef produced is of Hereford cross. As a fully certified organic farm there are many health benefits that can be expected from the leaner grass-fed beef, which has twice the levels of Omega 3s, lower levels of dietary cholesterol, and higher levels of vitamin A, E and cancer fighting antioxidants such as GT and SOD activity, as compared to grain-fed beef. All cattle are a minimum of 2 years old to build a good layer of marbling for extra flavour. We use only female cattle that have not produced a calf and therefore have more tender meat. For consumers, grass fed beef is considered to have a distinctive flavour. Our grass-fed cows (as opposed to industry-standard corn-fed) are free of hormones and chemicals. Our beef is hung for a minimum of 28 days, is slaughtered locally and delivered frozen. (Fresh on request).
